Cope Plastics has developed a new comprehensive training program, in conjunction with two supplier partners, Quadrant and Poly Hi Solidur. The Certified Mechanical Specialist Program (CMS) has been developed to enhance the engineered plastics support capabilities of our most experienced sales professionals, for the benefit of our customer base. The training includes extensive discussion of the mechanical properties of all of the engineered plastics materials supplied by Cope Plastics Inc., including fabrication fundamentals, physical properties, innovative applications, problem solving techniques, engineering skills, plus fundamental upgrading of our sales communication capabilities to the targeted professional customer base.

This four week intensive training program includes one week each at both of the manufacturing partners manufacturing and technical support facilities, plus two weeks of training at Cope Plastics Corporate, over a period of 4-5 months. This innovative program encourages our top people to look at customer’s needs and applications in a detailed manner, and then recommend and provide the best mechanical plastic solution.

In December 2004, the first two graduates emerged from the program, and have fully met the requirements to be called Certified Mechanical Specialists. Stan Norwood, based out of our Memphis, TN location, and Garrett Bertsch located at our Fargo, ND branch, are the two ground breaking professionals.

In 2005, three more graduates met the requirements to be named Certified Mechanical Specialists: Rob Rhea, based out of our Oklahoma City branch; Scott Sergel, based in St. Louis; and Tim Macrander, from our Omaha branch, gained accreditation. These three talented sales professionals will join Garrett Bertsch (Fargo ND), and Stan Norwood (Memphis TN), to lead the Cope Plastics sales effort specifically designed to generate new business (new customers, new engineered plastics applications), for the mutual benefit of Cope, our strategic partners/suppliers, and our customers. Congratulations to our newest Certified Mechanical Specialists.
