Combining the self lubricating properties of Nylatron® nylon and the strength of steel.
|
NYLASTEEL is a nylon/steel composite designed for use as machined drive components. Items such as machined gears, rollers and sprockets are all ideal applications for NylaSteel. NylaSteel combines the performance advantages of Nylatron nylon with the strength of steel. The contact surfaces - those surfaces that wear against other components - are made of Nylatron, which offers wear resistance, resilience and quiet operations. The core of the component is steel, which supplies critical strength to keyways and interference fits.
The NylaSteel Advantage - Nylatron nylon is cast directly onto a specially treated steel surface. The resulting NylaSteel product functions as a homogeneous material that can be machined in the normal fashion. Nylasteel composites reduce the slippage and fabrication costs associated with other assembly techniques. Because the nylon is an integral part of the steel, machined blanks measuring less than 1/2 inch face width can be used for drive components such as: Gears, Sprockets, Pulleys and Rollers/wheels.
Configuration Availability Billets - Billets are ideal for components of up to 10-1/2 inch diameter, machined to varying face widths. Billets can be supplied in lengths up to 24 inches for subsequent finishing.
Blanks - Best for smaller quantities of specific diameters and face widths, blanks are both saw cut from cast billets and cast individually depending on size and hub design. NylaSteel blanks can be provided with extended and custom designed hubs.
Custom Parts - Custom cast NylaSteel rollers, timing screws, rotors and similar parts eliminate assembly operations and pressfits by allowing the nylon and steel to perform as one homogeneous material.
