Polycarbonate (Machine Grade)

Polycarbonate Machine Grade

Machine Grade Polycarbonate is an amorphous material that offers very high impact strength and elongation. It is transparent but not optically clear, with better light transmission than many kinds of glass. The material is stress relieved, making it ideal for close tolerance machined parts. Machine Grade Polycarbonate offers excellent toughness and rigidity across a wide range of temperatures. It is also resistant to moisture and acidic solutions.

This engineered thermoplastic is characterized by high tensile strength, high modulus of elasticity, outstanding dimensional stability, and excellent electrical properties. It is easily molded and thermoformed and can undergo large deformations without cracking or breaking.

Applications for Machine Grade Polycarbonate

This polycarbonate is perfect for projects requiring tight tolerance and heavy fabrication because of its low stress grade. It is widely utilized for structural and safety applications. Common applications include:

  • Electrical insulator components
  • Manifolds
  • Diaphragms
  • Semiconductor applications
  • Coil bodies
  • Relay components
  • Plugs
  • Lights and lighting
  • Housings
  • Insulators
  • Protective covers
  • Transparent structural applications
  • Medical consumables
  • Machine guards and shields
