Cope Plastics Recognized at 2022 IAPD Convention

ALTON, IL – IAPD, The Performance Plastics Association, has once again awarded Cope Plastics, Inc. for both outstanding environmental and education efforts. Established in 1956, IAPD connects members of the performance plastics industry through training, programs, and services. Dwight W. Cope, founder of Cope Plastics, helped establish the organization and served as IAPD President from 1965-1966. Jane Saale, current President and CEO of Cope Plastics, also served as IAPD President from 2012-2014. Awardees were announced on September 14, 2022 at the 66th annual event in Tampa, FL.

Each year, the organization presents awards to members in various categories, including individual awards honoring exceptional representation and promotion of the plastics industry. They also celebrate companies exhibiting excellence in education and training, environmental initiatives, and marketing activities. IAPD’s Environmental Excellence Award recognizes innovative or exemplary environmental responsibility, utilization of eco-friendly materials, adoption of sustainable practices, manufacturing of plastics in an environmentally-conscious manner, and commitment to recycling materials. Cope received a Silver Environmental Excellence Award, their tenth award since 2012. Cope recycles 2.7 million pounds of industrial plastic annually, equating to over 24 million total pounds to-date.

Education is a major component of both IAPD and Cope’s mission, and this year marked the 11th Education Circle of Champions Gold Award Cope has received. This category acknowledges member companies who have demonstrated successful educational initiatives, emphasizing continuing education through the use of IAPD’s training and certification resources. Cope is committed to giving back to their community and provides valuable training to those both in and outside the industry to promote performance plastics.

“As the Learning and Development Supervisor at Cope Plastics, I’ve always believed that education is the key to success. Having the opportunity to join IAPD webinars, podcasts, Women in Plastics events, GenerationNext for young professionals and much more, adds value and inspiration,” said Patricia McKay. “I’m elated to be a part of a family-owned empire that has demonstrated exceptional and extraordinary service on behalf of the plastics distribution industry. This year’s hard work and dedication is recognized with the Education Circle of Champions Gold Award, congratulations Cope family!”
