Cope’s 18th Annual Charity Golf Tournament Raises $14,000 for Riverbend Charities
Alton, IL — On a beautiful October day at Woodlands Golf Course, 28 teams of Cope employees, family members, and community supporters gathered for Cope’s 18th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, raising an impressive $14,000 for Alton-area charities. This year, the tournament allocated $9,585 from the main golf proceeds and sponsorships to Friends of Kids with Cancer, while additional funds raised through on-course games contributed $4,420 to local organizations: Riverbend Family Ministries ($1,720), Overnight Warming Locations ($1,490), and 5A’s Animal Shelter ($1,210).
The spirit of competition was matched by a shared sense of purpose, with everyone understanding the significance of supporting children battling cancer while also rallying behind local charities. Participants and volunteers alike took pride in dedicating their efforts to Friends of Kids with Cancer, a beloved organization that profoundly impacts young patients and their families in the St. Louis area. Tremendous participation in on-course games also bolstered donations for three essential Alton-area charities, underscoring the community’s commitment to supporting vital organizations right in our backyard.
“Once again, our golfers showed up in a BIG way to support our annual charity tournament – and this year that support was shared with three additional non-profits in addition to Friends of Kids with Cancer,” said Jeff Maynard, Vice President of Administration. “We took the challenge to our employees to nominate non-profits in the Alton/Godfrey area, and they came through in flying colors, nominating over a dozen organizations. From those, Riverbend Family Ministries, Overnight Warming Locations, and 5A’s Animal Shelter were chosen. We were able to raise and share almost $14,000 with these worthy organizations – whether supporting children stricken with cancer, families needing various assistance, the homeless seeking a warm place to sleep, or our four-legged friends looking for a loving forever home! We are honored and humbled by the generosity of those who participate in our charity tournament each year, and we are already eagerly planning for and looking forward to the 19th Annual Cope Plastics Charity Golf Tournament in 2025! Thanks SO MUCH for your support!”
