HDPE

High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

Polyethylene is available in two basic grades: Low Density and High Density. High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) has greater strength and rigidity than other polyethylene grades. It has excellent chemical resistance, low moisture absorption, and toughness.

Machining, thermoforming and welding high-density polyethylene is easy. This material is FDA compliant for food contact.

An Overview of HDPE: A Thermoplastic Polymer with High Strength and Resistance

High-density polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer made from ethylene monomers. It has a high strength-to-density ratio, which makes it ideal for many applications that require durability and resistance to various factors. Some of the features of HDPE are:

Abrasion Resistant: withstand wear and tear from friction, impact, or scraping.

Chemical Resistant: resistant to most solvents, acids, bases, and detergents.

FDA Compliant: meets the standards set by the Food and Drug Administration for food contact materials. This material is safe and hygienic for food storage and preparation.

Impact Strength: high impact resistance, which means it can withstand high forces without breaking or cracking. Used for products that need to endure shocks, drops, or collisions.

Low Moisture Absorption: does not absorb water or moisture easily, which prevents swelling, warping, or rotting. This polymer is resistant to mold and mildew growth.

Stress Crack Resistant: resists cracking under stress or pressure. It can handle high temperatures and pressures without losing its shape or integrity.

Thermoplastic: maintains a high melting point, but it also allows for repeated melting and reshaping. This makes it easy to mold and recycle.

USDA Compliant: meets the standards set by the United States Department of Agriculture for agricultural applications.

Wear Resistance: resists erosion or degradation from abrasion, corrosion, or weathering. It can maintain its appearance and performance for a long time.

HDPE is a versatile and reliable material that has many benefits and uses in various industries and sectors.
